Ascent From Darkness

Ascent from Darkness opens with a note from the author in which he states his intentions in writing the book. I found this worth mentioning, because it is clear that his purpose is to share through truth and testimony of his life. The work discusses the depth of darkness he plunged into as he rejected God and openly embraced the demonic powers of this world and Satan. As the back excerpt states: “Practicing the dark arts that include ritualistic cuttings and blood sacrifices, while fine tuning his manipulation and control skills…” The darkness consumed Michael, but yet not so fully as to have no cracks for the light to get in. The battle discussed in this work does not make it an easy read even knowing the end as having read the excerpt on the book itself.

I began reading Ascent from Darkness the moment I received it in the mail as the story intrigued me. While reading about the dark times in his life it definitely made me consider the power of light, and of God to save a soul who was so far lost to have openly hated and rejected God initially. My concern is that some, if not many, will not believe this book, because our society has been deceived in that there are very few who even believe in demons and the fallen. It is heavy with the supernatural, in the literal sense, battles of the demonic powers over Leehan’s life. In rating this work, I would give it 5 stars in that it is an amazing testimony and shows the grace and power of God. Light over darkness. I am likely to type a poem directly related to this work, and will notate that its inspiration stems from here.

ved this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their book review program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

One Response to “Ascent From Darkness”

  1. I am thankful for your honest review of my book. I don’t get to answer most reviews but was led to comment on yours. This book is about God’s pursuit of one man. God isnt a respecter of persons so the book is more about how He purues each of us with His undying love. All glory and honor goes to the Lord for this mans life and this mans book!

    Love in Him,
