Couples Who Pray: The Most Intimate Act Between a Man and a Woman

(By Squire Rushnell, Louise DuArt)

Couples who pray is meant to encourage couples to pray together, and not just individually. Throughout the work the authors provide multiple examples of couples who have prayed together. Toward, the end of the work there is a 40-Day Prayer Challenge to couples to encourage them to pray for at least five minutes a day together for 40 days, which is the theme to encourage them to pray together.

Overall, I found the work both insightful, and yet lacking. The stories of the couples who prayed together were delightful to partake in reading their experiences with prayer, and the works of God through it.  On the downside though I found it to be filled with too many examples of couples who prayed together so it began to seem like I was trying to be sold something as opposed to just merely viewing them as testimonies.  For the second part, that I had been interested in. it likewise had it’s problems. The 40-Day Prayer Challenge that was discussed within the work at first sounded appealing, and was expecting it to be an actual challenge beyond just the “pray five minutes a day together.” I was expecting it to be more than just that, because that is one of those things that it doesn’t take a book to know and do. le examples of couples who have prayed together including those who are well known such as  Denzel and Pauletta Washington. Itproceeds into how these prayer times the couples spent together drew them closer together not only in the Lord, but in their marriage also. Toward the end the work offers a 40-Day Prayer Challenge, challenging couples to pray at least five minutes a day together.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com book review program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
